Bathgate’s Lewis Capaldi scores his first ever UK number one single

Lewis Capaldi has scored his first ever No.1 single on the Official UK singles chart with Someone You Loved.

The 22-year-old, who grew up in the town of Bathgate, just under 20 miles from Edinburgh, had his song go from number three on the charts to the top spot, registering 58,000 combined sales, including a staggering six million audio streams.

Someone You Loved (listen to it below) first entered the Top 100 at Number 66 back in January and has steadily climbed over the past nine weeks.

“Look who it is at Number 1! If you’ve listened to it, bought it, streamed it… thanks very much. This is my first Number 1 so I’m officially a one-hit wonder on the Official Charts,” Capaldi told OfficialCharts.com.

Capaldi is due to play his biggest Edinburgh concert to date at the Usher Hall on Thursday, 5 December. The gig is already a sell-out.

He will also play at Glasgow’s TRNSMT festival this summer.

Capaldi will join the likes of Tom Grennan, Clean Cut Kid, The Amazons, Declan McKenna, Vukovi, JR Green on the King Tut’s powered by Utilita stage on Sunday, 9 July.
