Police searching for Scott Hutchison, the missing Frightened Rabbit singer, have found the body of a man near South Queensferry.
The discovery was made at Port Edgar at around 8.30pm last night.
Formal identification is still to take place but Hutchison’s family have been informed.
The police statement says: “Police in Edinburgh can confirm that the body of a man was found at Port Edgar near South Queensferry around 8.30pm on Thursday 10th May.
“Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of missing man, Scott Hutchison, have been informed.
“The family are requesting privacy at this sad time”
A major search was launched after Hutchison left the Dakota hotel in South Queensferry at 1am on Wednesday morning.
The 36-year-old Selkirk musician was soon reported missing by his family, and a message on Frightened Rabbit’s official Twitter page said he may be “fragile.”
It read: “We are worried about Scott, who has been missing for a little while now. He may be in a fragile state and may not be making the best decisions for himself right now.”
It came after “worrying” tweets were sent by Scott shortly before he was last seen.
At about 11pm on Tuesday night, he wrote: “Be so good to everyone you love. It’s not a given. I’m so annoyed that it’s not. I didn’t live by that standard and it kills me. Please, hug your loved ones.”
Minutes later he posted a follow-up tweet: “I’m away now. Thanks.”
