From the writer of Orange Is The New Black comes a world premiere. Marcus Monroe – comedian, juggler, and award-winning master of quick wit and dry delivery – pours out his soul in a hysterical and heartfelt performance portraying one man’s pursuit of fame as the world’s most beloved juggler.
When Marcus Monroe takes the stage you can’t help but take notice. Hailed as ‘one of the most entertaining performers’ (New York Times), Marcus combines innovative juggling with a high-energy original take. This makes him one of the most sought after variety performers.
AAA caught up with Marcus for a chat.
How has your Fringe been so far?
It’s been excellent. Can’t complain at all.
Tell us a bit about the show you’re in?
The show is about my real life journey to find purpose in my life and career. It’s a fucking wild ride and it’s super weird and a lot of laughs.
What’s the audience reaction been so far?
They seem to respond super well to it. I’m very happy to have such an amazing response.
Do you read your reviews? Do negative ones bother you?
I only read the reviews if someone tells me I should. Otherwise, I just keep on doing what I’m doing. I don’t need to read a review to know that I had an off night or a really good night. I was there, I know.
There’s thousands of shows on – why should Fringe-goers fork out to see yours?
My show is the only show out of 3,000 about my life as a juggler. It’s plenty weird, exciting, and super funny.
Are there any other shows on this year you’d recommend?
YES! Colt Cabana, Julio Torres, The Reformed Whores!!!
What’s on your hit list to see?
I just wanna see everything I can. The good, the bad, and anything with nudity.
What do you/would you like to do in Edinburgh on your day off?
Just see more shows, I can’t get enough of them. However, I have no days off… so I will be sleeping.
Do you agree with those who say the Fringe has become too big?
No, fuck them. They can go to the Brighton Fringe then.
Can you recommend a bar or restaurant in Edinburgh?
What’s the strangest thing you’ve seen in Edinburgh this year?
I saw an adult woman in a left shark costume passing out flyers for a juggling show…
