Twonkey’s 10th show is about grotesque cake decorating shop in the Dordogne that has been secretly making fake weather since 1982. Mr Twonkey says, ‘Last week I knocked on the door licking my lips in anticipation. The shopkeeper opened the door, a tiny woman who was all baggy eyes with a hard miserable face and fast little legs. I had made a horrible mistake?’
Winner of the Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality.
This isn’t your first time at the Fringe…
No, I’ve been making Fringe shows for ten years.
First up was Twonkey’s cottage then castle and kingdom then I had a blue cadabra what ever that is and then on to my private restaurant, my stinking bishop and mumbo hotel I had Christmas in the jungle and then night train to Liechtenstein last year and finally I’m having Twonkey’s Ten Year Twitch.
Tell us a bit about the show you’re in this year?
Its got puppets and songs and lots of silly props.
How much work has gone into getting it ready for Edinburgh?
Hard to say maybe 250 hours or more. To be honest I don’t add up the hours spent or keep a record or details like that. What’ve been busy doing is taking it around the country and I also took it to the Prague Fringe.
There are thousands of shows on – why should Fringe-goers fork out to see yours?
It’s had a good run I’ve been doing Twonkey for ten years 2,000 Twonkey fans can’t be wrong.
Are there any other shows on this year you’d recommend?
Johannes Dullin Plays the Devil looks fun to me, He was a lot of fun last year It’s on at 19:20 Heroes at Dragonfly.
What’s on your hit list to see?
Lewis Schaffer is Mr. Diabetes I know he’s going to tell I’ve got Diabetes but must go I know he’s not a doctor but maybe he’s right. 32 Below main room 19:35 hours.
What are you planning to do on your days off?
I’m working as a tour guide on my only day off so I don’t have any days off.
Sell your show in no more than ten words….
Funny little gem that’s a genre of its own making.
