Nashville-based, Dallas-born singer-songwriter Andrew Combs, whose breakthrough album All These Dreams won him an army of admirers and comparisons to the late, great Leonard Cohen, can be seen in live action at Ednburgh’s The Caves tonight (6 May).
The gig coincides with the release of Combs’s brilliant new album, Canyons of My Mind, which was co-produced by Skylar Wilson and Jordan Lehning. AAA caught up with the singer for a quick chat.
Tie between Badlands and Adaptation. My favourite Terrance Malick movie and the only Nic Cage movie I enjoy.
My Cherie Amour – Stevie Wonder. This is on my mind because Stevie’s co-writer on this tune, Sylvia Moy, died recently. But man, what a song!
This changes weekly, but one of my all time favourites is Kris Kristofferson’s The Silver Tongued Devil And I. Timeless songs and production.
Newport Folk Festival and End of the Road Festival. Both actually remind me of each other. Great music and good, positive vibes.
This is constantly changing as well, so here are a few… Dirty Work by Larry Brown, Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami, and A Feast of Snakes by Harry Crews.
