Mumford & Sons among new additions to Radio 1’s Big Weekend

The full line-up for this year’s BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend has been announced, with Mumford & Sons, Iggy Azalea, Chvrches, Tame Impala and The Weeknd among those confirmed.

The two day event will take place between May 28-29 at Powderham Castle in Devon, with 25,000 free tickets for the weekend allocated to local fans.

Coldplay, Bring Me The Horizon, Ellie Goulding, The 1975, Chase and Status, Craig David and Jake Bugg had previously been confirmed, with new additions now including Biffy Clyro, Stormzy, The Last Shadow Puppets, Years and Years, Catfish and the Bottlemen and more.

Speaking about his band’s appearance at this year’s Big Weekend, Marcus Mumford says: “I’ve never been to Radio 1’s Big Weekend so we’ve got a lot of catching up to do… I wanna make up for it with five years worth of riders. We’re really excited, thanks for inviting us, it’s going to be great.”

Meanwhile, Fancy singer Iggy Azalea said she was relieved she didn’t have to keep her appearance at the gig to herself anymore.

“I’ve been waiting for you guys to announce it so that I could tell everybody because everyone keeps asking me when I’m coming to visit,” she says.

“And I knew that I was coming over for this but I couldn’t tell anyone, and I’m very bad at keeping secrets, so I’m glad this is one less secret to keep.”

Radio 1’s Big Weekend in 2015 saw Muse, Taylor Swift and Foo Fighters all perform live in Norwich.
