Noel Gallagher gives his opinion on new Arctic Monkeys album

Noel Gallagher has given his opinion Arctic Monkeys’ divisive new album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino – and he seems less than impressed.

Appearing on Radio X, the rent-a-quote former Oasis man was asked for his thoughts on the new album.

“Do you know what? I’ve just been listening to it in the car today on the way here… And I don’t know what to make of it,” he replied.

Host Gordon Smart then brought up Gallagher’s own “experimental” last album but said experimental is “not really what you expect from the Arctic Monkeys.”

“No, you’d expect a few choruses. [It] hasn’t got any of them,” Gallagher replied.

On Monday, Arctic Monkeys released the first video from the album. You can watch the Four Out Of Five promo below.

Alex Turner’s band have already kicked off their tour to promote Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

They are due to play songs from the album for the first in the UK when they perform at Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival this summer.

Arctic Monkeys last performed in Scotland at T in the Park in 2014. They will close the festival on Sunday, 1 July.

The Sheffield indie icons will then embark on a series of headline dates throughout the UK in September.
