The stunning official trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been released – and you can watch it right here.
The trailer offers the first extended glimpse of the sequel to 2015’s The Force Awakens after a teaser trailer was released earlier this year.
Picking up from the final scene in The Force Awakens, in which Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) meet a mountaintop, the new trailer shows Rey brandishing a lightsaber, presumably under the instruction of Luke, who voices his concerns about the “raw strength” he’s seen only once before: “It didn’t scare me enough then. It does now.”
Directed by Rian Johnson, The Last Jedi follows on from events depicted in JJ Abrams’ The Force Awakens, which was released in December 2015.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi also sees the return of Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson and Anthony Daniels alongside newcomers Kelly Marie Tran, Laura Dern and Benicio Del Toro, who’ll play one of the film’s villains.
The film also marks the final appearance of much-loved character General Leia Organa, following the sad death of actress Carrie Fisher in December last year.
Fans can also get a first glimpse of Porgs – a new creature who sits alongside Chewbacca.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in UK cinemas on December 15.
