Tickets for the award-winning Wide Days music business convention go on sale today, with a super-early bird discount available for the full range of accreditations.
Taking place in Edinburgh on 20-21 April 2018, the event combines a one-day conference, with an evening of multi-genre showcases by seven of Scotland’s most promising acts, while the second day focuses on a range of networking activities including a guided coach tour and whisky tasting.
Details of the first panel topics and speakers are due to be announced in early December, with long-standing partners including PPL, University of the Highlands & Islands, Eventbrite, EmuBands, EUSA and the Scottish Music Industry Association already committed to the 2018 convention.
“Wide Days 2017 was our most successful event yet and thanks to our partners and the support of Creative Scotland and PRS Foundation, we were able to offer more for delegates, artists and speakers,” says the event’s founder, Olaf Furniss, adding that an independent survey carried out by Culture Republic found 70% of attendees were very satisfied and 28% satisfied with their experience.
Moreover, based on the responses of a third of attendees, Wide Days generated over £400,000 of business for participants in the five months after it took place, delivering benefits for both delegates and showcase acts including The Ninth Wave, Declan Welsh & The Decadent West, The Spook School and Emme Woods.
“Wide Days is one of the most important voices for Scottish music,” says Katie McPhee, head of music, arts & entertainment marketing at Eventbrite, which is sponsoring the 2018 showcases. “We applaud all the great work they do in championing the best of Scottish talent and are very much looking forward to meeting our partners, customers and new artists at the convention.”
This is echoed by Peter Leathem, chief executive at PPL: “We are proud to be able to continue our support of Wide Days with PPL now being a sponsor of the convention for the eighth year running,” he says. “We are looking forward to two packed days of programming covering a wide range of pertinent music industry topics.
