AAA’s Hottest Record Of The Week

Lana Del Rey has had an iffy relationship with live performance in the past – but her signature dark, cinematic pop noir never fails to hit the spot on record.

lanaIn many ways, Del Rey is the perfect pop package. With her long lashes, big bouffant hairdo and bee-stung lips, she oozes old Hollywood glamour which, combined with the quality of her haunting retro-pop songs and hummingbird-like vocals, is a winning concoction.

Earlier this week, a previously unheard and unreleased Del Rey song surfaced online – and it’s our Hottest Record Of The Week.

The track has been uploaded to YouTube and is titled Super Movie.

The song contains the lyrics: “Drop me off at the Copacabana/You my one true love, aren’t you man, ah?/I’m your little super 8 movie/You know I’m in love with ya truly”.

Super Movie would appear to be a reworking of the previously leaked demo On Our Way.

Both songs share the chorus: “Spin me round kiss me in your Chevrolet/I love you more with each and everyday”.

Del Rey is believed to be working on the follow-up to her 2015 album Honeymoon.

Reports have suggested that she is collaborating with Video Games co-writer Justin Parker once more – but as yet, the 31-year-old singer has given no indication of when new music might be released.

“My label, Interscope, is pretty flexible and open to my records coming out at any time, so I don’t have that pressure,” she told NME in December. “I’m just happy to be able to keep on making music I can stand behind. That’s enough for me.”
