Arnold Schwarzenegger to host black tie event in Edinburgh

Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to host an exclusive black tie event in Edinburgh next year.

The legendary movie star will visit the city on Wednesday, 20 January for An Experience with Arnold Schwarzenegger, a unique event which will feature an onstage interview, a charity auction and live music. It will take place at The Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Morrison Street and will reportedly have a Terminator theme.

Schwarzenegger will discuss his life and illustrious career, during which he has gone from being named as the world’s youngest Mr Universe to one of Hollywood’s most famous action stars and the Governor of California.

As one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Schwarzenegger has appeared in numerous blockbuster hits including Predator, Total Recall, The Running Man, Twins and True Lies. During the event, fans will get to watch a mystery celebrity host grill the 68-year-old, who has recently been announced as Donald Trump’s replacement on The Apprentice.

The evening is being organised by Olexy Productions, who have previously held successful events with the likes of Sylvester Stallone, Al Pacino and Vinnie Jones. On Thursday 21 January, they will put on the same event at the Birmingham International Conference Centre.

The Edinburgh International Conference Centre recently played host to The Scottish Business Awards, which was hosted by Rob Brydon and featured George Clooney as the keynote speaker. Past speakers at the annual event include President Bill Clinton, Sir Richard Branson and Sir Bob Geldof.

Several different ticket tiers are available, ranging from £46 for standard entry (now available for a discounted price at www.itison.co.uk) to £1500 for a platinum package which includes a “meet and greet” with the star. Ticket holders can also opt to pay an additional £545 for the opportunity to have their photograph taken with him.

An Experience with Arnold Schwarzenegger, EICC, The Exchange, 150 Morrison Street, Edinburgh, Wednesday 20 January, 8pm, from £47, 0131 300 3000.
