Bon Iver to play two nights in Edinburgh on European tour

Grammy-winning Wisconsin indie band Bon Iver have announced new tour dates in support of upcoming album 22, A Million – including two nights at the Edinburgh Playhouse in February.

Bon Iver mainman Justin Vernon revealed last month that the band’s first album since their 2011 self-titled record will be released on September 30.

Thus far, Bon Iver have shared the album’s opening two tracks, 22 (OVER S??N) and  10 d E A T h b R E a s T ? ?, as well as 33 GOD.

Vernon recently said that one of the songs on the new album was inspired by “trying to find” himself on a Greek island.

Speaking at press conference to discuss the forthcoming record, he said he had taken a solo trip to an island off the coast of Greece last year, which gave him the start of song 22 (OVER S??N).

“Don’t go to the Greek islands off season by yourself,” he said. “Trying to find myself and I did not. I felt really poor. And I just heard this chorus in my head: ‘This feeling might be over soon’. That ended up turning into the opening line of the album’s first song, 22 (OVER S??N).”

22, A Million was recorded in Wisconsin, as well as in London and Lisbon. The album’s artwork was designed by New York-based artist Eric Timothy Carlson.

Bon Iver will tour in support of the new album during October in North America, and then hit the road again in Europe in January and February.

The UK leg will take in shows at Blackpool’s Empress Ballroom, two nights at Edinburgh’s Playhouse and London’s Roundhouse, and then come to a close at Hammersmith’s Eventim Apollo.
