Breaking Bad movie to start production this month

A Breaking Bad movie is in the works – and production of the Vince Gilligan-helmed project is expected to start later this month

Breaking Bad first aired in 2008 and ran for five seasons before ending in September 2013.

A spin-off series, Better Call Saul, began in 2015.

Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, a Breaking Bad film is to be made, with the show’s creator Gilligan working on a two-hour movie adaptation.

Sources say that the release – currently going by the working title Greenbrier – “will be set in the existing Breaking Bad franchise”, and “will follow a kidnapped man’s escape and quest for freedom”.

The New Mexico Film Office has confirmed that production is due to begin later this month.

As reported on AAA Edinburgh earlier this year, the Breaking Bad soundtrack is to be released on vinyl to celebrate the hit series’ 10th anniversary. You can see the full tracklist below.

To mark ten years since it premiered, music from across every season will be released in a box set of coloured vinyl.

Available from November 30, the Breaking Bad Original Soundtrack will feature five “Albuquerque crystal” 10″ LPs – with each season represented by its own unique sleeve. Only 5,000 copies will be available.

Artists featured in the collection include The Black Seeds, The Walkmen, Fever Ray, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Knife Party, and The Oh Sees.
