Christine and the Queens announce Edinburgh gig

Christine and the Queens – aka Heloise Letissier – will perform live for the first time in Edinburgh later this year.

After announcing her comeback last month with shows in LA, NYC, London and Paris, the Nantes-born pop sensation today revealed additional UK & EIRE shows – including a gig at the Usher Hall on 24 November.

Tickets for the new dates go on sale at 9am Thursday 26 April; see christineandthequeens.com for ticket information.

Last year, Letissier said the eagerly-awaited follow-up to Chaleur Humaine will be “sweaty, more sexual and tougher”.

“I’ve been writing since it was out, so I do have many songs now and I have to choose,” she said.

“It’s not really difficult though, because I know where I want to make Christine go. I know where she’s going to be, who she’s going to be, who she’s going to be in love with and what she will be angry for.”

Letissier continued: “I can’t really tell much, because then that would spoil the fun – but it will definitely be more sweaty and tougher. Maybe more high-tempo, but still really sad because I’m just me and I’m just sad deep down, but I’ll be properly able to dance on it all the time.”

Christine and the Queens enjoyed a massive breakthrough year in the UK in 2016, with hits including Titled and Saint Claude, taken from debut album Chaleur Humaine.

The record – already more than seven-times platinum in France before its release in the UK – climbed into the Top 10 on the back of her incendiary performances on The Graham Norton Show and at Glastonbury Festival.
