Christine and the Queens announce Scottish gig

Ahead of a highly-anticipated performance at this weekend’s Latitude Festival, Christine and the Queens have announced three UK shows for November – including a first ever performance in Scotland, at Glasgow’s 02 Academy.

Christine and the Queens is Nantes-born Héloïse Letissier.

Moving to London to study in 2010, Letissier instead found herself drawn to the art and theatre underworld of Soho, where she met the drag queens of Madame JoJo’s who inadvertently helped birth Christine and the Queens.

Her debut album Chaleur Humaine is spending its third week in the top 10 of the UK chart.

The record – already more than seven-times platinum in her native France before its release in the UK in February by Because Music (Metronomy, Major Lazer, Django Django) – climbed into the top ten for the first time on the back of her incendiary performances on The Graham Norton Show and at Glastonbury Festival last month.

A fortnight ago, Christine and the Queens were AAA Hottest Record of the Week with the utterly infectious Titled (here it below).

CATQ’S make what Letissier describes as “freakpop”, and frankly, we can’t get enough of it here at AAA Towers.

Tickets go on sale Friday, 15 July at 10am; dates are as follows:

Wednesday 2 November – London, O2 Academy Brixton

Friday 4 November – O2 Apollo Manchester

Monday 7 November – O2 Academy Glasgow
