Christmas is set to come early in Edinburgh this weekend (November 13 – 15) when the EICC is transformed into a spectacular culinary wonderland for the Foodies Festival Christmas.
Scotland’s top chefs will join award-winning artisan producers and international street food vendors at the event, which will also feature a Champagne Ski Bar and a Scottish Gin Theatre.
Mark Greenaway, Brian Grigor (Number One at The Balmoral), Fraser Allen (The Pompadour) and Peter McKenna (The Gannet) will be among the acclaimed chefs on hand to share their favorite Christmas-inspired recipes in the Chefs Theatre, whilst Great British Bake Off star Flora Shedden and MasterChef The Professionals winner Jamie Scott will also be in attendance.
Children under 12 can also brush up on their culinary skills by enrolling on Kiddy Cook’s Elf Cookery School, where they will learn how to bake and decorate a variety of sweet treats including snowballs, gingerbread men, cookies and cupcakes.
For those that prefer a good tipple over Christmas dinner, a visit to the Scottish Gin Theatre to learn how to craft the perfect festive cocktail might be in order. Experts from Edinburgh-based gin producers Daffy’s, Pickering’s and Edinburgh Gin will host cocktail-making masterclasses every day during the festival, whilst Charles Metcalfe and Neil Philips will also be on hand to teach visitors how to pick the perfect wine to compliment popular Christmas dishes.
