As reported on AAA last month, Scottish indie legends Belle & Sebastian are curating a special benefit gig for Save the Children at the Clyde Auditorium on November 2, 2015 – and the band have now added Franz Ferdinand to the line-up.
A stellar line-up had already been announced for the event, including Edinburgh’s own Mercury Music Prize-winning trio Young Fathers, post-rockers Mogwai, Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill from Simple Minds, and award-winning comedian Josie Long.
Belle & Sebastian said: “Belle and Sebastian, humbly, and with a good will, wish to stand behind the displaced peoples of Syria in their brave attempt to find a better life in Europe. If governments won’t help them, then the people must. Rock on.”
Neil Mathers, Save the Children’s Head of Scotland said: “We are very excited and thankful that Belle and Sebastian and their friends have organised this amazing gig to support our Child Refugee Crisis Appeal.”
He added, “This is a great opportunity to raise vital funds to support our work on the ground and tell people about the desperate situations and life-threatening journeys that children and families are making to find refuge from the violence in Syria.
“People across Scotland have shown incredible generosity and compassion in how they have responded to this crisis. We hope that thousands of people will turn out on the November 2 to support Save the Children’s Child Refugee Crisis Appeal, and of course enjoy a brilliant live show in the process”
The event is on general sale now, and Belle & Sebastian will also play a warm-up gig at The Alahambra Theatre, Dunfermline on November 1, 2015.
Tickets for both shows are available from www.gigsinscotland.com or 0844 999 990.
