Kate Bush shares And Dream Of Sheep live

Legendary singer Kate Bush has shared a live version of And Dream Of Sheep ahead of the release of her forthcoming live album.

The album, titled Before The Dawn, is out on November 25 and will be available as a 3 CD or 4 LP set.

Before The Dawn is themed as a triple album, with each album marking different sections of the set Bush performed on her mammoth 22-date summer residency at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in 2014.

Act One consists of a seven-song set from throughout Bush’s extraordinary career, including Running Up That Hill and Hounds Of Love.

Act Two comprises the songs from side two of Bush’s 1985 album Hounds Of Love – a sequence of songs titled The Ninth Wave. This includes the spoken-word track The Astronomer’s Call.

Act Three features the songs from side two of Bush’s 2005 album Aerial, known as A Sky Of Honey.

Before The Dawn includes one song, Never Be Mine, which Bush didn’t play at any of her 2014 London gigs. It’s reckoned this is taken from the singer’s rehearsals of the shows.

As yet, there is no DVD/Blu-Ray release of the album, with no official visual footage released of the concerts.

You can listen to the live version of And Dream Of Sheep on iTunes.

For Bush herself, the shows she performed during the London residency were both triumphant and deeply affecting.

“It was one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life,” she wrote on her official website. “I loved the whole process. Particularly putting the band, the chorus and the team together and watching it all evolve.

“It really was the ultimate combination of talent and artists, both from the music business and the theatre world. I never expected everyone in the team to be so lovely and we all grew very close. We became a family and I really miss them all terribly.”

Bush recently sat down with BBC 6 Music’s Matt Everitt for her first interview in five years. During the discussion she revealed that she “was really nervous every night” of the tour.

She continued; “The thing that I think was the most difficult thing for me was to be continually in the now. Because I naturally tend to race ahead in my mind. I’m always thinking about situations and running them through.”

“Maybe it’s kind of that primeval thing where you’re trying to think, ‘Can I get to that tree before the tiger gets me? Will I be able to get up high enough?’ So my head is always moving ahead to try to get to the conclusion of whatever this journey is,” she added. “And once we started running the show, I had to be absolutely in that moment. And I was so terrified that if my mind wandered off, that when I cam back I wouldn’t remember where I was [in the song].”
