Lift To Experience set for first Scottish show in 15 years at Fringe

Nothing Ever Happens Here – the ever-excellent series of year-round concerts at Summerhall – has confirmed the latest of its headliners for this year’s Edinburgh Fringe live music programme.

Indie supergroup Lift To Experience will be bringing their fabled shoegaze to Summerhall’s Dissection Room on 17 August. This is NEHH’s second confirmed headliner for their curated run of fringe events, joining Charlotte Church’s Pop Dungeon two-night run, and following in the footsteps of last year’s headliners Billy Bragg, Grandaddy and Kathryn Joseph (Fringe 2016).

A Lift To Experience show isn’t something that comes around too often. Despite launching onto the scene in 2000 at SXSW in their native Texas – a set so impressive that they were signed to famed indie label Bella Union later that day – and in 2001 releasing their sprawling, genre defining concept album The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads, they soon chose their own musical paths away from the band.

Frontman Josh T. Pearson became a critically acclaimed solo artist, bassist Josh Browning formed Texas shoegaze band Year Of The Bear, and drummer Andy Young formed a band with Elbow’s Guy Garvey – whose Meltdown curation in 2016 allowed Lift To Experience to rise from the ashes.

This is the third year that Summerhall, Edinburgh’s home grown southside arts hub, has ignited the Fringe’s live music lineup with Nothing Ever Happens Here – expect this show to cut right to the heart of the Fringe’s lineup, with sprawling guitars and haunting vocals soaring high up into the rafters of The Dissection Room.

Lift To Experience are a band making up for lost time. You are invited to experience them in all their glory, in what’s sure to be one of the most anticipated shows of the festival.
