Ahead of their visit to Edinburgh’s Fopp music shop today (Feb 9), Franz Ferdinand have covered Angel Olsen’s Shut Up Kiss Me. You can listen to it here.
The Scottish indie legends covered the track for American radio station SiriusXM.
Franz will be signing copies of Always Ascending at Fopp (Rose Street, Edinburgh) today at 1pm.
Copies of the album will be available to purchase in-store on the day of the event. Access will be granted on a first come first served basis with a copy of the album, up to store capacity, while stocks last.
With founder member Nick McCarthy quitting the band recently, Franz are back with a new line-up – the latest incarnation of the band featuring two new members.
Joining frontman Alex Kapranos, bassist Bob Hardy and drummer Paul Thomson are Dino Bardot and Julian Corrie.
Bardot was formerly a member of indie trio the 1990s, while Corrie has produced electronic music under the Miaoux Miaoux moniker in recent years.
Speaking to NME recently, Kapranos teased that the band have swapped their guitar-driven sound for something more futuristic.
“We wanted to take the sounds that are available to us now and make the sound that you haven’t heard before – the sound of the future,” said Kapranos.
“When you’re recording in 2017 you need to be looking ahead to the next thing.
“What haven’t people even heard in 2018? In terms of ‘naturalistic’, it’s not retrogressive – but it’s about trying to make something that feels like it’s being played by humans.”
