Gig preview: Model Aeroplanes, The Caves

Dundonian pop-rockers Model Aeroplanes will perform at The Caves in Edinburgh on Thursday, 3 March.

The gig will be the first of the band’s ten-date UK tour before they begin an extensive European leg, with dates in Sweden and Norway already confirmed.

“We feel like we’ve really developed our sound and live performances over the past wee while and honestly can’t wait to show everyone what we’re all about now,” bassist Ben Buist told AAA. “We’ve got a few big plans so the shows should be really interesting.”

Despite their strikingly youthful looks and playful sound, Model Aeroplanes have already racked up an impressive touring resume – last summer, they played T in the Park for the third consecutive year and they’ve already supported Twin Atlantic, Little Comet and The View on tour.

The four band members have been jamming together since they were 14 and recorded their first single, Crazy, whilst sitting their higher exams. Last year, their hard work paid off when they were signed by Island Records after being discovered through the Spinnup, a revolutionary online music distribution service which has talent scouts constantly scouring the site for new bands to work with.

But there’s still no sign of them forgetting their roots: “It will be great to get back to playing headline shows in Scotland,” explained Ben. “Best crowds in the world and all that!”
