The organisers of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations have announced that Paolo Nutini will play a second gig in Princes Street Gardens this December.
The Scottish singer-songwriter will now perform on Friday, 30 December, in addition to his previously announced gig on Saturday, 31 December, which broke records when it sold out in less than three hours. The shows will be his only festival appearances of the year.
On adding a second show, Nutini said: “I was in the desert when I heard about the response to the first show. I was overwhelmed and am incredibly grateful for the support of all you great people. I was then asked if we would do a preceding show on the 30th as there could be others who never got tickets. I said I was up for it and I hope we can play to as many as we can that weekend.
“It will be time to make some music, have a dance and celebrate a lot of good that’s been done this year and hopefully celebrate a lot of shite being resigned to the past. Also, there will be more acts to be announced as soon as possible. Happy Daze. Can’t wait!”
Al Thomson, Director of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, said “To have Paolo Nutini headline one show at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is an incredible achievement, to be adding a second show is just phenomenal, for the festival, the city and most importantly for the thousands of fans who missed out on tickets for Concert in the Gardens on Hogmanay itself.”
Tickets for the Night Afore Concert with Paolo Nutini will go on-sale on Friday 21 October at 10am, but those on his mailing list will be able to access a limited amount of presale tickets at 10am tomorrow (Wednesday 19 October).
