Strictly Come Dancing favourites Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacase will bring their last ever theatre show to the Edinburgh Playhouse tonight.
The Last Tango, which has been billed as the duo’s ‘ultimate farewell’ show, will give fans of the dancers the chance to see them perform together one last time before they move on to begin working on separate projects.
Directed by Oliver Award-winning choreographer and director Karen Bruce, the show uses the medium of dance to tell the story of a young couple from their first meeting through to their very last dance together.
When the tour was first announced, Flavia explained: “We have had such a fantastic time creating and dancing in Midnight Tango and Dance ’Til Dawn. It’s an incredible experience to perform live in front of our wonderful audience night after night, but all good things must come to an end, so we’re creating our final ever theatre show.
“It’s going to be intimate, intense and full of our award-winning Argentine tango. The Last Tango is going to showcase our best work and most beautiful dance moves before we finally say farewell to theatre.”
The pair, who have been dancing partners for more than 20 years, met when they were both in their teens. Since then, the former couple have created and starred in several hit West End productions, been crowned as World Argentine Tango Champions and starred on hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing.
Vincent said: “The last few years have been amazing – we’ve loved it. The Last Tango may be our final theatre tour but we’re going to go out with a bang. This is going to be our best show yet!”
The Last Tango, Edinburgh Playhouse, Greenside Place, Edinburgh, Friday 8 April – Saturday 9 April 2016, 7.30pm (Saturday matinee performance at 2.30pm), from £17.90, 0844 871 3014.
