Ryan Hamilton releases new music video

Hot on the heels of his first solo headlining tour of the UK, during which he played a stomping set at Edinburgh’s Sneaky Pete’s, Texan singer-songwriter Ryan Hamilton has released the video for his latest single, Medicine.

Shot in and around Nottingham during Ryan’s Hell of a Day Tour last month, the video was made in collaboration with Posteritty and Ayup Productions. The humorous video features clips of Ryan performing live at The Bodega mixed in with shots of him running around spray-painting the city – using washable paint, of course!

Speaking about the video, Ryan said: “I’m so excited to announce the release of the video for my new single, Medicine. When making it with Posteritty and Ayup Productions, I was able to embrace my obsession with Banksy and I had an absolute blast. It’s a really fun video and I hope the end of it makes everyone that’s watching smile!

“I decided to shoot it in Nottingham because the Posteritty guys are based there I have really wanted to work with them for a long time.”

Medicine is the latest catchy track to be released from Ryan’s debut solo album, Hell of a Day, which was crowdfunded and inspired by the likes of Tom Petty, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

He explained: “The idea for the song came from a saying we have here in Texas – “take your medicine”. It means to submit to something disagreeable such as punishment and, in this case, applies to a romantic relationship.”

The singer, previously of People on Vacation and Smile Smile fame, has taken a completely ‘hands on’ approach to his solo career to ensure that the focus remains on the music and the fans, rather than the numbers and the money.  “I’ve tried to start over, develop real relationships with people and leave the door open for people who want to talk, email and tweet,” he said. “There are so many artists who go through the ringer in this industry and I want to make sure I do things differently.”
