Earlier this year, AAA reported that The Spice Girls were set to reform and tour for their 20th anniversary as a four piece, without Victoria Beckham.
In March, following reports that Beckham was “too busy” for a reunion, Geri Halliwell (née Horner) confirmed that the comeback would be “just the four of us”, as reported by BBC Newsbeat.
The singer – known to millions as Ginger Spice – added that nothing was “definite or concrete” but “when it’s definite we’ll announce it together”.
Then, it was revealed that the Wannabe hitmakers’ return had been put off until 2017, with Mel B confirming the news during an interview on US chat show Live With Kelly.
But now, the Spice Girls look set to cancel their reunion entirely, with reports that the girl group are not going through with the reunion with only three of them.
Reports have suggested that Beckham – aka Posh Spice – still isn’t keen to tour again, and while Melanie Chisholm – aka Mel C, aka Sporty Spice – had been supportive of the reunion, she’s reportedly now told the rest of the group she’ll only do it if all five members are on board.
Beckham last appeared alongside her bandmates in 2012 at the London Olympics closing ceremony, performing a medley of their biggest hits. And that performance seems likely to have been her last.
“Sometimes you’ve got to know when it’s time to leave the party,” Beckham told Vanity Fair last year.
“Doing the Olympics was an incredible honour. I was so proud to do it. That was a perfect time to say, ‘That’s great. Thank you to everybody, but no more.’”
