Twin Atlantic announce Barrowlands shows

Twin Atlantic are set to play three consecutive gigs at Glasgow’s Barrowlands.

The band, who will perform an intimate gig at Edinburgh’s La Belle Angele on Friday 15 July, have announced that they’re set to wrap up their December UK tour with three consecutive gigs at the popular venue later this year.

The Scottish alt-rockers will play Glasgow from Tuesday 13 – Thursday 15 December.

Ahead of their Edinburgh gig next week, the band have been discussing their new album GLA, which is set to be released on September 9. Frontman Sam McTrusty said: “This is where we come from. It’s laced in our blood not to mention our art and vision. It’s bold. It’s in our voice. It’s time to embrace it and not work around it.

“This album is our reflection of what it’s like to come from a city at the forefront of multiculturalism, both forward thinking and with a real sense of community, but also with a dark and rough history.

“We have changed our approach to writing and recording; we turned the idea of a rock band upside down, conforming only to this one idea – to take back rock and roll. To give people something real again.

“You can’t get more real than Glasgow. Infamous for rivalry and danger. Passion and fear. Diversity and depth. Love and warmth. Small spaces and one climate. We have finally made the album we wanted to make.”

GLA was written in Glasgow, and the band repaired to Topanga Canyon in Los Angeles to record the album, working with Jacknife Lee (U2, Snow Patrol, Two Door Cinema Club) who produced some tracks for previous Top 10 album Great Divide.

Sam added: “We can’t wait to play our new songs up close and personal, we want to show you what ‘GLA’ is all about.”

Tickets for all three shows, priced at £22.50 each, will go on pre-sale at 9am on Monday 11 July, followed by a general sale on Friday 15 July.
