Fox have confirmed when The Walking Dead will return for its eagerly-awaited eighth season.
After months of speculation, it was announced that season eight of the hit zombie series will premiere in the UK on October 23 on Fox – the show will start the night before over in America on AMC.
Like previous seasons, the season eight of the Walking Dead will consist of 16 episodes, and will air in two parts.
The first eight will run from October 23, before concluding with the final eight from February 2018.
As revealed a few months back on AAA, The Walking Dead will make three of its supporting castmembers regulars for its eighth season – including Edinburgh actress Pollyanna McIntosh.
The hugely-popular AMC show routinely reshuffles its cast list each season, with a small number of primary actors usually leaving the show following the death or exit of their character from the story. These spots in the cast are normally filled by either existing characters (who then become a more integral part of the show) or new characters.
The eighth season of The Walking Dead will see bigger roles for Steven Ogg (who plays Simon), Katelyn Nacon (Enid) and McIntosh (Jadis), after the trio were promoted to series regulars.
McIntosh, who plays the mysterious Jadis in The Walking Dead, is a three-time award-winning actress best known for the Sundance hit The Woman and for films as diverse as Sex and Death 101, Land of the Lost, Burke & Hare, Exam, FILTH, Love Eternal, Let Us Prey and White Settlers.
