It’s been in the works for nigh on two decades, but finally, the official first trailer for next year’s Wonder Woman movie has been released.
The teaser, which you can watch below, was unveiled during Warner Bros’ panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego yesterday (July 23).
Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot – who first made her appearance as Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice this year – the trailer opens on Diana and Steve’s first meeting.
In one of the most dramatic scenes in the trailer, we see Wonder Woman defending herself from gun shots as she emerges from the trenches on to a battlefield.
In another clip, pilot Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) quizzes Wonder Woman about her father and how she has never met a man before.
“I had no father,” she replies. “I was brought to life by Zeus.”
The film is set for release on June 23, 2017.
Speaking about bringing the iconic comic book character to life in Wonder Woman’s 75th anniversary year, Gadot said she was very popular in her native Israel where she was a household name along with Batman and Superman.
“Many times, it felt like we got signs from the universe,” the stunning actress said about shooting the movie. “It felt like we were just a vessel for a greater story that we need to share with everyone.
“It isn’t about me as an actress or Patty as a director. It felt like, now is the time.”
