Watch video for new Garbage song

Shirley Manson’s Garbage have shared a clip for new song Empty ahead of the release of their long-awaited new album, Strange Little Birds, which is released on June 10.

Watch a clip for new track Empty below. It is directed by Samuel Bayer.

Strange Little Birds is said to include reference to fan mail they’ve received as well as the music they listened to growing up.

“To me, this record, funnily enough, has the most to do with the first record than any of the previous records,” says Edinburgh-born frontwoman Manson. “It’s getting back to that beginner’s headspace. In part, that’s a result of not having anyone to answer to.”

Stockbridge-raised Manson made headlines last week when she fell off stage while performing at a festival in Los Angeles – but somehow managed to continue singing.

The singer her band were playing at KROQ Weenie Roast on May 14 when she stumbled off the stage during a rendition of 1998 song Special.

Manson, 49, seemed to be unhurt by the fall, which was caught on camera by a fan – watch the footage below.

Garbage played a sell-out gig at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall in November to celebrate 20 years since the release of their four-million-selling debut album, which was released in August 1995 and went on to sell over four million copies worldwide, buoyed by the now-classic hits Only Happy When It Rains, Stupid Girl, Vow and Queer.
