Veteran Scottish pop band Wet Wet Wet are set to perform at Edinburgh Castle this summer.
The Glasgow band – whose best-known hits include Sweet Little Mystery, Wishing I Was Lucky, With A Little Help From My Friends, Goodnight Girl and Love Is All Around – will visit the Capital on Saturday, 15 July to mark the anniversary of their debut album, Popped In Souled Out, 30 years since its release.
Wet Wet Wet last played at Edinburgh Castle 25 years ago.
Still comprising original members Marti Pellow, Graeme Clark, Tommy Cunningham and Neil Mitchell, Wet Wet Wet have sold over 15 million singles and albums and played to over four million people worldwide.
Guitarist Graeme Clark added: “We’re coming back to to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our Popped In Souled Out album and to do it on this scale at Edinburgh Castle is incredible.”
Mark Mackie, director of the Castle Concerts series, said: “It is with great delight we are able to announce today that pop sensations Wet Wet Wet will be the fourth act to play Edinburgh Castle this July.
“It’s only taken us 25 years to get the band to come back and play this truly unique venue.
“Over the years, the castle has played host to many international stars such as Rod Stewart, Blondie, Elton John, The Proclaimers, Leonard Cohen, Stereophonics, Sir Tom Jones and Pink.”
Wet Wet Wet play Edinburgh Castle on Saturday 15 July. Tickets go on sale Friday, 31 March at 9am.
